Headstones and Worms...

St. John's Cemetery, Eltham High Street, SE9

Set on a crossroads of a busy, suburban south east
London suburb this little graveyard is surprisingly
tranquil, despite being so close to busy main roads.

I wonder if this had a slab surround, that may
have been stolen in the past?

Obviously an important man in his day.

I particularly like this snap, with the urban
sprawl of tower blocks from the next door
council estate looking over.

This caught my name just for the unusual
moniker of 'Farmer'.

This plaque adorns the outside wall of the church
itself.

How did he die? Where did he die?
Oh for more information? That's part
of the appeal of burial grounds. It so
stimulates the inquisitiveness of my
mind.

A sad example of lack of respect for
headstones.

Vandalism. How long ago I do not
know...
